June's headline is VEECs: Victorian commercial and industrial solar projects can now claim Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates right inside Solar Proof, calculated for you and stacked on top of STCs. We also rebuilt how you find equipment, and shipped a stack of design-tool improvements. Here's everything, grouped by area, with what each change means for you.
VEEC rebates for commercial solar (Victoria)
- VEECs built into quoting — turn on "+ VEEC" for an eligible 30–200 kW Victorian C&I solar system and the rebate is deemed, calculated and subtracted from the price automatically, the same way STCs are. Quote Victorian commercial solar with the VEU incentive included — no spreadsheets.
- Automatic certificate maths — the number of VEECs is worked out for you from system size and location using the ESC's official deeming method; you just set the price per certificate (defaults to the current market rate). Accurate VEEC counts without manual calculation.
- Metro vs regional, detected from the postcode — the regional factor (which changes the certificate count) is set automatically from the site postcode, and stays overridable. The right factor every time, with no lookup.
- Flows everywhere — the VEEC line shows in the live pricing, the price builder and on the customer quotation, and it's saved with the project. One consistent number from design to proposal.
- Free Solar VEEC Calculator — a public, no-sign-up calculator that estimates VEEC volume and value for any eligible system, added to the Free Tools page. A lead-generating tool you can share with prospects.
Master Search — find equipment fast
- Rebuilt product search — one fast, token-aware search across panels, inverters, micros, optimisers, batteries and heat pumps, with product images and brand logos in the results. Find the right product in a couple of keystrokes.
- Favourites that float to the top — star the products you use most and they jump to the top of every search; click again to unset. Your go-to gear is always one glance away.
- Set a default with one click — a cog on each product sets it as your default for that type, so new projects start with the equipment you prefer. Less repetitive selection on every quote.
- Datasheets and clearer branding — every product with a datasheet now shows a link straight to it, and brand logos are larger and easier to read. Check specs without leaving the search.
Equipment bundles
- Save and apply bundles — capture a panel + inverter + battery combination as a named bundle and drop it onto a project in one action. Standardise your common system configurations and quote them instantly.
Shading & obstacles
- Realistic sun-path shading — shadows track a true solar path for the site, so the animation and per-panel shading reflect what actually happens through the day. More believable, more accurate shade analysis.
- Obstacles that behave like real objects — trees, poles, walls and AC units extrude with their height, sit on the roof rather than the ground, and select with a clear highlight. Model real rooftop obstructions properly.
- Per-roof shading accuracy — each panel is scored against its own roof plane and height. Tighter production estimates on multi-roof designs.
- Shading in screenshots — a new toggle controls whether obstacles, shadows and the panel heat-map appear in your design screenshot. Show exactly what you want on the proposal image.
Cabling & electrical
- Voltage rise & drop calculator — an AS/NZS 3008-based cabling tool for DC and AC runs, with string details that can auto-fill from your stringing. Size cable and check compliance inside the design.
- Cable Schedule PDF — generate a clean, server-rendered cable schedule document for the job. Professional electrical paperwork in one click.
Map editor polish
- Cleaner on-map controls — compass, zoom and rotation are consolidated into a single tidy capsule, and panels now render correctly above shadows and building obstacles. A less cluttered, more legible design canvas.
- Smoother design flow — a more reliable project-loading screen, fixes to imagery upload, and the design tool only recalculates when something actually changed. Faster, fewer needless recalcs.
- Custom image smart scaling — an intuitive, simple and easy way to scale your building plan or uploaded map image to the background in the design tool
Accuracy & reliability
- Battery capacity fix — the battery summary now reports total and usable kWh correctly for multi-unit batteries. Battery numbers you can trust on the quote.
- Template fallback — projects always load a working proposal template instead of a blank one. No more empty templates on open.
VEECs are a Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) incentive; figures shown are indicative and should be confirmed with an accredited provider before lodgement.
